Do you even think about face shape when you think about a new hairstyle? Of course you do! But not because you should. Because you’ve been told to think about it.
This is one of my pet peeves. While certain hair styles can accentuate features you’d rather not accentuate, the truth is that round faces can wear short hair, long faces can wear long hair, and oval faces, well, you get the idea.
How do you feel?
What’s important is how you feel about your hairstyle. You should certainly talk with your stylist about these issues but if your stylist is worth their stuff, they’ll tell you that face shape is not the only factor that determines a great looking hair style on you.
A round face and short hair
A face that is as wide as it is long is generally considered a round face. You likely have features that appear soft and non-angular (your cheeks are not as chubby as they look to you). Classic round-faced women who are super-skinny can have non-angular features.
Are you going to be the one to tell Michelle Williams, pictured above, that her short hair is not becoming? She looks fantastic and so can you, even if you have round features.
I’ll discuss this more in future posts but the thing to keep in mind is, you need to talk with your stylist or colorist about what you want. Bring pictures to Salon Baroque. And be daring. Try something new that might surprise you.
